Ship Reviews

Our first small boat and river cruise. Lived the intimate feel. The food was superior to big boat food. The region matching wine was a nice touch. We closed the lounge most nights. We met a couple and a single and ended up spending most of our time with them. The bar staff were friendly and cooperative. Liked the ease of shore access. The included excursions were acceptable and the local guides knowledgeable, friendly , and accommodating. Sadie, the coordinator, was great. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful in planning extra activities. Loved the section of the river with all the castles. Colmar was our favorite city. We only wish we had gone a week sooner so we could have seen more Christmas makets. The few we did see were nice. The Crans-Montana Ski resort bar tragedy was horrible and canceled many events after it occurred. Seeing the shore constantly was nice and allowed us to see more if the countries we traveled to and through.

This was an absolutely fantastic trip! My first river cruise and I so love this cruise line and its attention to detail; I’ve booked for an April 2026 Tulip Time Cruise! AmaSerena here I come! My first river cruise; my first solo trip ever after several years of surgeries and PT. The selection of off shore excursions was amazing and everyday I was able to join with the excellent guide; small group of fellow cruisers and enjoy the extraordinary sights; cities; and wineries! Did I mention this was a “ wine cruise?” I like wine but knew nothing..our “ Wine Guy” sommelier Nick Elliott was fabulous! The scenery of the vineyards along the Rhine and Moselle; the tastings in centuries old buildings; the gourmet dinners; wines picked by Nick and paired with incredible courses by the terrific on board culinary team! Our cruise director Andre’.. it exceeded in every way

This was our first river cruise. Overall the cruise was very nice. 136 passengers make the vibe more like a small group. Met some really nice people and saw some awesome sights. Got to know the captains and they were happy to have visitors in the pilot house. Stateroom was neat and in good condition. Had an issue with toilet not working for a few hours but several adjacent rooms were affected so not sure what was happening there. Food and service were nice except for early breakfast in the main area. No bowls for musli. No salt and pepper. Scrambled eggs were room temp or cold every day. Talked with Cruise Director about it but nothing changed. Staff would bring what we asked for but you feel like you get a certain number of feedback opportunities and asks and after that you’re a complainer. Don’t want to be that guy.

What a magnificent journey. The scenery was amazing, staff were friendly and helpful (The Wellness expert was particularly friendly), food was great. We did not go on a lot of excursions as we are solitary souls and like to wander the cities on our own. That said, there was a great selection for those inclined to have a guide and we heard from them that the sites they visited were great. A really well planned itinerary - just the right amount of cruising and visiting the small towns. We do like to mingle on board the ship and we met lots of very interesting people. As Canadians, we were very pleased with the warm welcome we received from guests from other countries and from residents of the towns we visited. Unfortunately, we could not disembark in Basel as planned but the cruise manager arranged transportation there from our last stop, a minor inconvenience. Very hot the last few days of our trip (well over 30 degrees) but the ship is beautifully air conditioned. This was our 4th cruise with AMA and we wouldn’t choose any other cruise line.

This was our fifth river cruise using AMA Waterways. All five cruises have been in Europe and all of them have been exceptional. We have been on the Danube, the Rhône, the Rhine and the Moselle. Some ships have balconies outside the cabin as well as a French balcony and other ships just have French balconies. As far as I know. The outside balconies are a nice plus, although this time I only went out on it once. That was probably both because of the weather at this time of year And because there wasn’t a lot of cruising during daylight hours on this cruise.Planning is comprehensive and well done. The ships and cabins are comfortable and well appointed. The food quality and variety are very good. The personnel are friendly, well informed and helpful and the off ship tours are interesting and typically well guided by local people. So all the way around, we are very satisfied.
