Celebrity Flora

Celebrity Flora

Our stunning Celebrity Flora® is the first all-suites, 100-guest ship designed exclusively for sailing these islands, and it’s the first resort at sea in the region to receive a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Rating. Inspired by the islands and built with natural materials, the ship merges seamlessly with the surroundings, giving you a feeling of total immersion. To bring you an even more in-depth experience, certified naturalists from the Galápagos National Park are on board to guide the journey.

Proving you can practice responsible tourism and deliver ultimate luxury at the same time, Celebrity Flora was built with the latest environmental technologies. The dynamic positioning system allows the mega-yacht to remain on station without dropping anchors, protecting the seabed—and the solar panels supplement electricity, reducing emissions. The result is one of the most eco-friendly ships sailing anywhere—just one reason Celebrity Flora was awarded “Best Cruise Ship” in 2021.

Ship Reviews

This ship is near to perfect as any we have been on. Nearly as many crew as passengers. Great service. Great food. Ship is small and easy to get around. Common spaces are comfortable and not crowded feeling. Marina for getting on an off zodiac tenders is perfect. Very safety minded touches. Snorkeling is safe. And magnificent. Naturalists are great at finding wildlife and explaining things in an interesting way. Sights are amazing on land and under the sea. Tender ride tours yield great pics. This hits my top 5 after a lifetime of travel. Here are a few tips. Nice suite with balcony. It has no power on the one side of the bed. The balcony door is very hard to open. The magnified mirror in the suite has a very sensitive on off touch button that we couldn’t figure out how to turn off. They have a 44 lb limit. We believe this is because they give you 5 lbs of stuff to carry home. A nice backpack, insulated metal water bottle and poncho. They do laundry twice. I overpacked. Didn’t need the wet bag we took. Did use iPhone waterproof holders under water snorkeling. You need zinc based sunscreen. The sun is super hot there. All of our group has some bathroom issues off an off. Take immodium. We heard multiple reports of gastro issues after eating under the stars on deck 7. Mild though. Food all week was great. Use the crushed ice to fill your water bottle. The black metal soaks in heat. The hangers can dry wet stuff behind the tv hanging from the ceiling. There is a bit of a shortage of places to hang wet stuff. There is tremendous storage capacity. We didn’t use all the shelves and drawers. They offer various pillow styles. I ordered firm after a night of too soft. Good pillows and beds. The day tour in Quito was nice. Cool there. The trip from the airport to the motel is 45 minutes on not great roads in a nice bus. All busses on the trip were nice and not full. The plane from Quito to Baltra was hot and when you get to the outdoor airport there was a long walk, long wait and it was hot. Wear cool stuff for that day and use sunscreen. I used light colored clothing with long sleeves to snorkel and for long boat rides. Even 50 sunscreen is recommended for reapplication 3x per day. I agree. This is a fantastic trip that should be on bucket lists. The Flora is near perfection. Kudos to the crew!

The trip to Galapagos exceeded my expectations. We chose the 10 day vacation with pre and post cruise stays in Quito. Celebrity representatives met us at the airport and everything went smoothly. JW Marriott was beautiful although we didn't have much time to explore. We arrived late the first night and took a taxi (Celebrity called for us) to a restaurant for lunch to meet our group. Missed tour of the Old City but Equator tour was interesting. The naturalists were the best. Our room was spacious. We had an infinite veranda. Still not sure if I prefer traditional balcony, but we really did not have much time in the room. Two (sometimes three) excursions per day. Really appreciated that everything was included in upfront price. Just a tip for those with infinite veranda--You do not need clothesline. Our room attendant put our wet clothes on hangars and hung them from the rim in the ceiling that separates the space that would be the balcony from the rest of the room

We did the 2 day pre-cruise and 1 night post cruise stay at the JW Marriott in Quito. Our experience upon arrival at the Quito airport through being dropped off at the end of the trip was outstanding-taken care of every step of the way! We enjoyed a tour of Quito and visited the equator. Meals were included. There was a charter flight to take us to the Galapagos from Quito. The ship, crew, service and overall experience was one of the best we've ever experienced. The Galapagos is such a special place and the experience of seeing these beautiful islands & wildlife with the Naturalists was very memorable. Good to know in advance: Included in cruise: 40 items of clothing for laundry service on the ship, given backpacks, water bottles, rain poncho to keep. Provided a tube of reef safe sunscreen. Have use of nice binoculars that are in the room. All snorkel equipment, wetsuits, walking sticks are provided. Food was top notch, a lot of fresh seafood and ceviche. Fellow travelers mainly in their 60s-70's but ages ranged from 40 to 87. Cannot have mobility issues as you only use the tenders to get onboard and off the ship. The service and crew were excellent without exception. I highly recommend this cruise!

We selected Celebrity Flora for this once in a lifetime cruise and we were glad we did. Simply amazing trip. Food, service, educational briefings, and wildlife viewing were spectacular. One or two points for those heading to the Galapagos on Flora. We had a difficult time packing and knowing what to bring. We wore hiking boots and were happy we did. On some islands they were the right choice for the rocky surface. We brought drawstring backpacks to use for the excursions. We did not need those as Celebrity provided backpacks that met that need perfectly. Long-sleeved quick drying shirts were great to wear as the sun is intense. We brought sunscreen and used it in addition to a tube of spf50 provided in our stateroom. Here is a bit of day by day to give one a feel for what the cruise was like. Just a warning that our AA flight from Miami was terrible. Four hours 10-2 with no food.after that is was luxury all the way. Celebrity pickup and transfer was excellent. JW Marriott hotel was great. Spacious room, good food. Tour of Quito. Old town was interesting. Some lovely churches and a bit of the history of the country. Lunch was nice. Buffett in a convent. Equator museum was fun and had more info than I expected on indigenous life. Flight to Galapagos. Checked bags handed over the night before for agricultural inspection. Celebrity transfer in comfort. Smooth sailing through Quito airport. Chartered flight with lunch on board - very nice and our bags delivered to our stateroom as if by magic. Greeted by an huge iguana right at the airport! Efficient check through immigration and onto bus for short ride to pier where tenders took us to the ship. A little water may come in, so watch your shoes. Note about tenders. These are zodiac type boats. People sit along the outside (about 12 to a boat). Any backpacks or equipment is stacked on the center bench. You will get used to donning life jackets and climbing into and out of these after a day or so. Stateroom. Fantastic. Larger than most cruise ship staterooms. Tons of storage space. Found backpacks waiting for us as well as a small tube of spf50 sunscreen. Deluxe bathroom with spacious shower and a water tap for purified drinking water to refill the reusable water bottles provided. Bags were delivered while we were out exploring the ship. Lunch was a buffet up top. Standard fare, fried chicken was good, as were the chips with salsa and guacamole. We sailed and cruised by a small island. Daphne. Introductions and selecting activities for the next day. Issued wetsuits and familiarized with snorkel gear. Drinks flowed freely on this all inclusive cruise and dinner was the usual excellent celebrity quality. Fish and shrimp were the highlights throughout this cruise. Monday: tender ride for morning walk - greeted on shore by a newly born sea lion pup and mother. Iguanas (yellow and black) and sea lions were the highlights. Back to the beach for snorkeling but rough water made this difficult. A few fish there but a lot of turbulent sediment. Caught a brief look at a Galapagos hawk. Back on board, showers and lunch. Afternoon: the ship had moved to Rabida. Red soil. Walk and kayak. Flamingoes, a few other birds and some discussion of flora. Kayaking was fun and very smooth. Up close to blue footed boobies and sea lions as we paddled along the coastline for 30 or so minutes. Tuesday: tender ride along the mangroves. Blue footed boobies, brown pelicans and flightless cormorants. Also penguins swimming about and marine iguanas and sea lions. Relaxing boat ride along the shoreline. Back on board and lunch while the ship moved to our next stop. Isabella. Great photos of blue footed boobies during our tender ride along the shore. Crabs. Penguins and flightless cormorants. A pair of sea turtles mating in the water. Kayaking got up close to wildlife. Wednesday Santiago. Watched an amazing feeding frenzy of birds - more than 100 blue footed boobies along with a dozen or more pelicans and penguins. Diving and feeding on fish. Incredible display. Short walk across lava. Viewed first plants growing in the lava field. Rough surf conditions led to cancellation of the afternoon walk. Good snorkeling in deep water. Nice tender ride viewing. Bartolome island. Penguins. Sea lions. A sea turtle on the beach. Thursday. Walk along beach. Sea turtle nests and tracks. Stilt birds. Ghost crabs. Iguanas. Some fish while wading in the rough surf. Seymour Norte. Lots of sea lions. Small pups trying to nurse. Other playing. Walked through the nesting area for frigate birds and blue footed boobies. Saw the large red throats of the male frigate birds. The final days were all about tortoises. We visited the Breeding center and Darwin center. After four days in the unpopulated islands it was strange to back among people! Overall: amazing wildlife, up close in many cases. Service: amazing. The ship has just under one staff per passenger. Never a long wait for a drink order to be filled. Our waiter got to know our favorite drink orders and would show up with them promptly. Each time we returned to the ship there were snacks waiting (chips and guacamole, hamburger sliders, grilled skewers…) Lunch was your choice of a buffet in the dining room or a set menu at the grill up on the top deck. They had tasty items there. The buffet had a theme each day. One of these was Asian and included an impressive sushi assortment. Breakfast was a buffet or you could order room service: eggs cooked to order, eggs Benedict, salmon, etc. all the usual and a few less usual such as juices or smoothies made with fruit from Ecuador. At the end of the cruise we were slowly transferred back to Baltra airport (tender ride to the dock, bus ride to airport, then a bit of a wait before the charter flight back to Quito). We had a very early flight out the next morning, so rather than the Marriott we were placed at a hotel close to the airport. This saved us a 45 minute to hour long bus ride to the airport in the morning. The end of a great trip!
