Ship Reviews

Blu restaurant was very good with amazing staff and customer service. Dealing very well with some passengers who were very rude and couldn't be pleased regardless of everything staff did. The said passengers were the problem not the staff,. They should have been thrown off the ship the way they spoke to the staff.we stayed in cabin 1503 aqua, the bed at the window, the cabins view to the front is blocked by the ships bridge, and balcony is not as private (i would not book this cabin again) there is door at the end of the corridor it says crew only but this leads into the persian garden area . The is tea coffe etc at the other end of the door, handy in the moring. The entertainment was amazing and very professional. We hired a golf buggy in grand turk which was a laugh. and the regatta yacht race in st martten was very good

Eclipse is a wonderful ship. We are older cruisers and found this ship to be very comfortable. We upgraded to a suite and found there was plenty of room and the bathroom was very large. The bathtub is a little hard to navigate over, so keep this in mind if you have any mobility issues. Our butler Tridip and our steward Gede were wonderful. Anytime I had a request if was handled. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and our view was the best. We were in an aft facing cabin, never heard any noises. We ate at Luminae, Tuscan Grill and the buffet. All were very good. The buffet works for us, as we like to eat at odd times. We have been to the Murano on other cruises, but find it very tightly spaced. I missed having the Lawn Grill on this ship, we've always really enjoyed eating there. We did some fun excursions, my favorite was the Sunset Schooner Cruise on Aruba. They had wonderful drinks and snacks, also the best music. I really recommend this, and it was only a couple of hours in the evening. On Bimini, we went to the Hilton resort for the day. My only suggestion for this excursion is, why don't they run the tram in the reverse in the afternoon? The tram hits the shopping area last and is full of guests from the ship that waited until later in the day. The people waiting for transport back to the ship had to wait in long lines at the resort and casino because the tram is always full. After the shopping area,it emptied out with all of those folks at the previous two stops waiting. This didn't make sense to me. Long lines and hot sun are not a good combination. We didn't make it to any shows, but I heard several people saying they were very good. Don't forget to try the pastries at Cafe Baccio, they were very impressive. The service on Celebrity is so over the top, we're always made to feel special. We were treated to a special gathering at Michael's Club where we got our picture taken with the Captain. Such a nice keepsake!

You can never really have a BAD experience on a cruise, it is what you make it. We had 10 nights of relaxation, pretty good food and beautiful weather. We had booked this cruise last minute as a hospitalization force us to cancel our cruise on Beyond Sept. 21, so having no choice, we were booked for late dining. What a disaster! Even after going to the dining room immediately after boarding they could not guarantee us a time at Select. Every night we had to “ check in” with the hostess and were given a pager . We had no issue joining other people but we still had to wait and some nights even wound up downstairs in the middle of the early dining service. Every day was an adventure. As a whole the food was ok but sometimes too salty for me. Another complaint heard around the ship was that the bar service was not consistent. Drinks tasted different in the different bar areas. I did not partake in anny alcohol but trying to get a soda or bottle of water during the 5-7 pm happy hour was frustrating. The wait times were ridiculous. Celebrity should do the 24 hour vouchers like Royal. Booking the last minute we had a choice of an inside cabin or a partially obstructed Veranda Cabin. We took the Veranda. I am posting pictures . I can say that even though you’re at sea you don’t think you can walk around your cabin naked! Entertainment was just ok. Headliner show with Colte Julian who performed as Elton John and Billy Joel. I’ve seen a better “Almost Elton John” show on a different cruise. “Magician” was disappointing and no Comedy show. Ship is dated and public areas show wear. The “leather” on the arms of the chairs in the main dining room is almost worn off completely. This ship definitely needs to be refurbished soon. All in all a good cruise. Entertainment around the ship was good, crew were very friendly and our room was kept immaculate by I Ketut.

I had read several reviews on this particular ship/itinerary prior to taking this cruise and I am a little confused now that I have taken it. Several reviews were extremely negative and we did not experience this at all. Yes, the ship is 14 years old and needs updating but it is very clean and well maintained. The cabins are in need of a re-fresh but everything in our cabin was in working order and spotless. The crew was amazing, and entertainment was very good. We had no complaints. Embarkation was a breeze if you check-in before you board and print your documents. Muster 2.0 is simple on the App and checking-in once on the ship at your station. You need to know that this itinerary tends to skew "older" so pack your patience with scooters, wheelchairs and walkers but you are on vacation so deal with it. Loved the itinerary, 11 nights with 2 days in Quebec City. The fall colors were amazing in Quebec and Halifax. Sydney was our least favorite, there is not much to do. We took a ship excursion to Baddeck/Bell Museum. We wanted to see the village of Baddeck, however, we only went to the museum which wasn't that interesting. Loved the two speciality restaurants we ate in--Murano and Le Petite Chef. The Lobster Murano table side is wonderful. We had a great time in QSine with Le Petite Chef, so cleaver and entertaining. Service in both was impeccable. We ate in the main dining room, Moonlight Sonata, the other 9 nights with reservations for anytime dining. Most were at the same table with the same staff. With the exception of one meal that I didn't care for but the rest were wonderful and the staff the best. We ate all our breakfasts in the Oceanview Cafe and there is a lot of variety and the food is very good. We also loved the Mast Grill for hamburgers/fries at lunch a couple of days. We ate most lunches in port on port days. The lobster in port is amazing on this itinerary. Our cabin attendant was absolutely fabulous. He knew everything we wanted/needed and made sure everything was perfect for us. The evening theater entertainment was a variety of single singers, broadway/show tune singers, large cast shows with singers, dancers and acrobatics, all of which were great. There was live music all around the ship as well as lots of activities to keep you busy on sea days. Immigration was done in Portland, Maine(the day before be got off the ship in Boston). I would suggest you take a ship excursion early in the day because you are able to go through Immigration first. We met in the theater and were taken down in order of excursion and it took about 5 minutes once at the immigration area. Very well organized but it does take some time, so be patient. Debarkation was a breeze, we walked off the ship with all our luggage for an early flight, our sea pass was scanned and that was it. We waited about 3 minutes in the taxi cue to head to the airport. (UBER in Boston is available however, you have to walk the length of the cruise terminal to get to the area you wait) Taxi's are right in front, it was $30 and 10 minutes to get to the Boston Airport. We would highly recommend this itinerary and ship. We have another cruise to Norway next year on the same ship!

Variety of activities occurring throughout the day. Evening shows fair to excellent. Service was excellent in all areas of the ship. Cabin was comfortable and roomy. Enjoyed the balcony for relaxing in the sun and getting great pictures. Our cabin attendant was super and took great care of us. Officers very visible on the ship. Food in Oceanview was very good with a huge variety. Mast Grill hamburgers were very good. Murano was excellent. Tuscan Grille was mostly good; not fond of crunchy gnocchi. Main dining room food was fair to good; it was a hit or miss situation. Wait staff very good. Embarking and disembarking was speedy and very organized. Ship arrived in port on time on all days and crew was very fast about getting passengers off. The hot chocolate upon our return to the ship later in the day was a nice treat and very welcome on cool, breezy days. Enjoyed all of the ports; even Sydney, where we rented a car from Enterprise and drove the Cabot Trail. The fall colors were gorgeous. Stopped at several small shops on the trail for shopping and lunch. All in all, a great day. We did 4 shore excursions through Celebrity and enjoyed all, but thought one of them was too rushed (Peggy's Cove in Halifax.) Staff works hard to keep ship in good shape. Eclipse is starting to show some age and probably needs some major work in the near future. But there was nothing that really detracted from our trip. My husband and I tried almost all the types of chairs on this ship; they are all uncomfortable. We are average sized people and could not find a comfortable chair in any of the public areas except for the Oceanview Cafe. The chairs in the main dining room were the worst. Had a great time on the cruise.
