Ship Reviews

We have recently returned from a great 7 Night Med Cruise on ‘MSC Musica’ for our first ever Cruise. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! While technically an ‘older’ MSC ship - it was still plush, grand - and spotlessly clean. Its age & medium to large size (rather than the new Mega Ships) also meant a more traditional yet informal atmosphere (without gimmicks like water slides, rides & the subsequent army of kids) which suited us. Most passengers were Italian, Spanish & French (with us being some of the only Brits onboard) which provided a welcome cosmopolitan atmosphere. We booked the Aurea Package with 2 balcony cabins & full drinks package - which all worked really well. The cabins were excellent, modern, clean & attentively serviced by Steward George (Deck 10) who was most friendly & helpful. We had anytime dining with Aurea - and were assigned to the ‘Belle Epoque’ A La Carte Restaurant. The restaurant was plush, the food varied every day, was delicious and waiting staff were most attentive & friendly. Special mention to Joseph our waiter who was outstanding & also to Gabby the Restaurant Manager - who looked out for us & was also most helpful & attentive. The main Buffet Breakfast & Lunch restaurants were very good - with plentiful & varied offerings every day. Truly something for everyone! The fresh Italian pizzas were particularly good. Breakfast can be pretty busy & finding a table can be difficult. The evening shows were also varied & of a high standard - in the impressive plush Theatre! The Aurea package gave us access to an exclusive sun deck at the front of the ship - with its own Bar - which was a welcome quiet sanctuary with plenty of sun beds & space - away from the far busier/noisier main sun deck & Bars below us. I would definitely recommend this experience! Special thank you to Brendo on the Pool Staff who was most friendly and helpful here. There were plenty of entertainment options in the evening in the numerous Bars - from Piano players, singers, karaoke, discos etc plus a Casino. Majority of the staff were friendly & helpful. Passengers embark & disembark at every port (not that you’d notice) which I believe is different to other cruises - but this didn’t bother us at all. All in all a most enjoyable first Cruise experience with MSC - especially for the money. Would definitely use MSC again & recommend!

Hello. I have taken 7 cruises. This was the first transatlantic repositioning (21 days) Due to a storm, the Quinquela Martín Cruise Terminal in the Port of Buenos Aires was partially usable, so the appointment to deliver suitcases was made at the Costa Salguero facilities, a place from where they were also mentioned by the Costa Cruises passengers, which is why everything was absolutely chaotic, from the more than 100 meters of queue to the open air (I thought what would have happened if it rained or if the temperature at the end of March was high that day... in end). After an hour in line, and after the luggage delivery, another hour of waiting for the transfer by hired city buses, we arrived at the Quinquela Martín Terminal, where we had to walk about 200 meters between stairs and corridors to arrive at the final check-in. where we handed in our passports and boarded the ship at 2:00 p.m. (the appointment in Costa Salguero by the shipping company was at 11:00 a.m.... that is, 3 hours to board!!) The MSC Musica is years old (18 since its launch) So our expectations were almost zero but the truth is that, after its enhancement in 2019, it is in perfect condition (except that its age is "noticeable" in the decoration). The cabin with sea view on deck 5 was good. in its dimensions (6 meters x 2.80m wide) and Francisco, our waiter, was diligent in everything. The inconveniences we had when getting the cabin were a persistent sewage smell in the hallway and that the shower space had a leak so the floor got wet even when placing towels on the wall around the shower area. The smell came and went...some days it existed and other days it didn't. The leak in the shower was repaired with sealant the next day after the complaint was filed at the customer service desk. When the cruise left at the end of March there were practically no children and 90% of the guests were over 60 years old. Some complained about the small amount of food that was served on each plate in the main dining rooms, but we know that there is always the possibility of "repeat" some if you want, so I do not consider it a problem. The food was of good quality and extremely varied considering the number of days sailing. The attention of our waiter Tirta from Indonesia was good despite his almost non-existent Spanish language. For "operational reasons", two of the planned destinations were changed: Tarragona for the failed Barcelona and Nice for the frustrated Marseille. The theater, practically complete in each performance, practically lacked decoration, being replaced by a large LED screen. The shows provided were quite poor compared to those seen on other trips but it was the only thing that existed. In the bars, live music was performed by performers who did their job quite well. The ship's entertainment team always made an effort to entertain us. In short, good trip except for the detailed inconveniences.
