Full disclosure: We stayed in The Haven, so the service was excellent. The Butler service and Concierge service was spot on. We were quickly boarded onto the ship on embarkation day from the private lounge. The Horizon Lounge in the Haven exclusive area was very nice, and the buffet was very well stocked. We stayed in a two-bedroom family suite. However, it appears that a great portion of the view in the living room was obstructed by a pillar. I would not recommend this particular room due to the obstructed view. We paid extra for this view for an Alaskan cruise, and to have it obstructed by a pillar without any warning seems rather unfair. There should have been some type of price concession on the room itself. The Haven had an all-new menu, which appeared to be cheapened. We found the new menu items, which included the paella and the crab and shrimp dumplings and the squid ink pasta, to not be very good. They replaced these items with the beef tartare and the prime rib. So it does not appear that we got our value as in the past. We have sailed The Haven approximately five times. So we know what to expect when it comes to food, and unfortunately, on this trip, NCL failed. They seem to have removed the expensive items from the Haven exclusive restaurant. It also appears that the delivery of canapes has been significantly cheapened. We were given, on many occasions, chicken salad, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into triangles with potato chips on many of the days. This is a significant downgrade from the past experiences. I really felt sorry for the regular passengers who ate from the buffet. The menu did not seem to change all week, other than a specialty or two. There were no shrimp or crab legs to be seen. We ate at Le Bistro, which is their French restaurant. The experience was very poor, and the food was not so great. We also ate at Palomar and the food was better, but the service also seemed to be lacking. For what we paid for this trip, we expected a lot better. Unfortunately, this seems to be the trend with NCL recently. Each time we go on board, it seems as though the services get degraded.
