In a dramatic re-inspiration process, Regatta has become a completely redesigned ship without peer. Every surface of every suite and stateroom is entirely new, while in the public spaces, a refreshed colour palette of soft sea and sky tones surrounds tasteful renewal of fabrics, furnishings and lighting fixtures that exquisitely encompasses the inimitable style and comfort of Oceania Cruises. From the bejewelled new chandeliers in the gracious Grand Dining Room to the beckoning Reception Hall, Regatta celebrates a rejuvenation so sweeping, you will find it positively unimaginable to resist her welcoming embrace.
Crew members made the cruise! Sweet, competent, hard-working folks service this ship. Embarkation and disembarkation were the best we'd ever experienced, mostly because of the relatively small number of passengers (and, of course, a lot of logistical effort behind the scenes). A few BUTS: the food was lovely but oversold in promotions--not qualitatively better than many mid-priced lines we've sailed with. Our stateroom was clean and lovely--and the toilet flushed at least 75 percent of the time. The bathroom was so tiny, though, that one would have to step outside to change one's mind. The shower was nice, albeit cramped. Loved being on the balcony, but even touching the railing, we learned, was a good way to get splinters. Bottom line: This ship has been well-loved and long used, and it seems that Oceania is trying to get just a few more sailings out of it before sending it to ship heaven. All of these "buts," of course, are first-world complaints, and we did our best to focus on the sheer joy of enjoying good company (lots of fun fellow cruisers) on the open sea and beautiful ports of call. Not worth paying about double, though, what this cruise would have cost on a more mid-size line. But did I mention how much we loved the efficiency of "on and off" and no lines to speak of anywhere? We would love to see the brand-new Oceania offerings; however, we are not sure we'll take the chance.
What am amazing experience. We had a penthouse suite with a phenomenal butler and room attendant. The staff was top notch. The food at the specialty restaurants was just fantastic, with the service being 10 star. I loved the main dining room and the Terrace grill was delicious. Our excursions and tour guides we just loved. The staff, everywhere we went could not do enough for us, they were friendly and worked hard to make sure our cruise was top notch. We embarked in Shanghai, and it was a quick and simple process and disembarked in Tokyo, which was also easy, no issues. We had some rough seas a couple of days, and our Butler was so attentive, getting us whatever we wanted. This cruise was the best cruise we have been on, and look forward to cruising with Oceania again, we booked another one on the ship. And it was a breeze.
