My first cruise... and I was impressed by everything. I had a lovely cabin on level 5 behind the art gallery. only a little noise from theatre at night. The room was clean, cool, steward dedicated and friendly. An issue with shower faucet quickly resolved. The food at the buffet was wonderful, varied, and was amazing. every night had different themes and everything over a week from prime rib to sushi. I loved the breakfast with fresh fruit, great yougurt and granola. Plenty of other options everyday. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, never to busy to chat with a solo traveller. All the staff remembered me each evening and my favorite drink. The room service was swift--- I used it everyday after going to the beach. I enjoyed the itinerary, it gave me a chance to try several ports. The entertainment was outstanding--- Princess goes all out with revolving shows. Music from the front of the ship to the back every evening--- all evening. Something for everyone--- moves, karaoke,comedy, bands, and a fantastic cello and violin duo--- they ended up with fans following them around every evening. if you are bored---- you should have stayed home. I spoke with folks on MSC, PO, they had almost no entertainment, or new acts flown in and out. the Grand had a magician, jugglers, 4 music shows, 4 comedians. and more. this is not a kid ship with tons of kid toys--- everyone I spoke with wanted a cruise without kids on it. only 15 the first week , about 50 the second. Their parents were a problem. my only complaint was shopping , spa, stores watches somehow becomes listed as entertainment. on/off the ship was easy and comfortable and organized. the only issue it the port of San Juan needs to invest in three roundabouts. . The Grand may be old, but she went through dry dock in Portland this fall. I would sail on her again, a classic comfortable ship.
