Seven Seas Navigator

Seven Seas Navigator

Seven Seas Navigator® may be found in two very different regions: the South Pacific or Canada and New England. Take your pick of amazing beauty in both destinations — turquoise waters teeming with bright tropical fish or the blazing orange, red and gold leaves of a New England autumn.

Ship Reviews

Previous seabourn cruisers (and hal ncl) who wanted to try regent. Yes the navigator is showing her age esp in bathrooms. Food in main dining room was excellent and always great variety. Buffet verandah was a bit hit and miss but we enjoyed the pool grill very much and they had specialty lunches (Mexican Spanish etc) all first class. Crew excellent. Entertainment was pretty good too. Lovely weather and nice people. Terrible shake in our cabin which is or was due to its location above the thrusters we were told. We enjoyed the included excursions and consider regent and seabourn a virtual tie. It says I have to provide more info so perhaps I will say that the casino is not busy and the lounges are nice but don’t get too much use. Earlier to bed crowd which was fine with us. A very good vacation and I have met the word count.

After we booked and paid in full for our cabin, we were alarmed that some of the reviews about the Navigator complained about excessive vibration in the rear and excessive motion when at sea. We did not experience either of these problems. Vibration was only noticeable at normal times when the ship was maneuvering in and out of port. As for motion at sea, we found it perfectly normal for a ship that size, and we are veterans of 30 cruises. We loved the Navigator. It was elegant, as of course are all Regent ships. The food and service were wonderful. As seems to usually be the case on Regent, there were numerous port stops in our 10-night cruise. Only one sea day. At more than half the stops, we were the only cruise ship in port. Some couldn't accommodate larger ships. One of the most interesting would not take ships with a capacity of over 500 passengers. over 500 passengers Regent remains our #1 choice.

Regent certainly isn't a value cruise but we were delighted by everything. The food was fantastic at all venues but especially so at the Prime steak house. Our suite was better.than described. Breakfast in the room always arrives in a timely manner. The staff really do look after you and we left very happy indeed Only gripe was the entertainment, the shows were amature, with the exception of the comedian who was brilliant. The last live music stopped at 23:15 latest, its not for night owls. There was a mix of ages but the average seemed to over 70. Be careful in your choice of included excursions. The lake and wine tasting alternative to Rome was rubbish and so was the the trip to Saint Tropez (virtually closed). We didn't even get the guided walk that was promised Trips to Pisa, Lucca and Aix en Provence were fantastic and great places to experience.

This was our third cruise on the Navigator having done two last year, one in the Caribbean and the other in the eastern Mediterranean. We know its smaller, older, and less glamourous than its bigger sisters, but it does look like a proper ship rather than a block of flats on a barge, and appeared to be in very good condition – not a speck of rust anywhere (other lines could learn a lesson). The crew is friendly and efficient, and the service levels are fully up to normal Regent standards. We had a guarantee suite and we ended up on deck 6 – which we rather liked as all the public areas were almost outside the door. Our suite attendant was excellent. The food quality could be variable, sometimes very good but there were one or two misses. The opportunity to have breakfast, lunch, and the occasional dinner outside on the deck behind La Veranda/Sette Mari is always a bonus. There is only one specialty restaurant, Prime 7, which was mixed food wise but not that great an environment. We are not fans of the pool grill and avoided the deck buffet though others clearly enjoyed it – perhaps BBQ is not really a British thing. We felt that the captain was not as approachable as the last one we had but we enjoyed Ray Solaire again as the cruise director – he is always out and about and very sociable. The evening entertainment was the usual traditional song and dance shows - it would be great to have something more contemporary. We had two guest artists, the singer was good, the magician was not for us. The daily trivia was not that well attended, a pity as it can be a good way to meet people. The music had improved from our last trip, the orchestra played regularly in the Galileo Lounge and the duo and Mark, the piano player, were fun and personable. There were no obvious problems on securing sun loungers on deck but we prefer to sit on our balcony – and only venture on deck for the bar, and the hot tubs in the early evening. The WIFI was not the greatest, we struggled to download our newspapers, but we got there in the end. The itinerary was good (except perhaps for St Tropez, nothing much there), the weather not so good. The selection of included tours was excellent and we had no trouble getting the ones we wanted. Regent caters for a wealthy mature demographic, who are very friendly. If you think luxury equates to chandeliers and marble everywhere, or you want parties and late nights, Navigator is probably not for you, but it suited us. We prefer the small numbers of passengers, that everything is included and that you never need to flash a card.
