Ship Reviews

This was our first luxury cruise after doing a run of the mill cruise some years back. Our last experience was not very positive and this was to restore our faith into cruising. From the start, our experience was phenomenal and the service excellent. Of course, being a new ship, it helps, but tastefully done, understated elegance throughout. The ship, while large for a Silversea standard, felt intimate and there are many places one can find solitude as well as mingle with the crowd if so desired. No hard selling of any products on board the ship. All inclusive truly meant to be exactly that and our check out bill amounted to $0.00. Hard choices on which bar today or what restaurant to choose was about as difficult it was going to get. All Restaurants offered great options. For dinner, outside the Atlantide, Salt Kitchen reservations are needed and this can be a bit annoying as a choice of dining venue must be made well in advance. How do I know what I feel like weeks or months in advance? Short term waitlisting is possible, though our success rate was not very high in a ship which was at max 85% full. Food great everywhere and themes differ by Restaurant, catering for a variety of tastes. Buffet lunch and breakfast at Terrazza was of very high quality and plentiful of options, though after 16 days, minimal changes to the variety was experienced. Room service is included though with mixed results. Food was definitely better consumed in a restaurant. The room itself, the entry category is a great suite with firm sitting area on a 2 seater couch. Large TV screen with a range of in house movies to choose from. Good functional balcony. Bed was wonderfully soft yet supportive. Best part, the bathroom which is spacious incl a double sink. What a luxury. Butler service is a nice touch though in our case under utilised. Minibar stocked with your favourites which magically just got restocked, including champagne… Pool and outdoor spa area brilliant and plenty of sunny as well as shaded areas to relax. The views from the gym spectacular and the gym very functional. Missed some group lessons on yoga, Pilates ect. Supposedly the instructor missed coming onboard. Thought why was a bit weak… it’s worth to note that the temperature in the gym always run high. The warmest gym I have ever been to. I did ask for a temperature adjustment, but it did not happen. Entertainment of high quality, great singers and dancers as well as the band created memorable experiences, so are the guest entertainers. Due to weather, some changes were made to the itinerary, which is what it is. Included shore excursions were hit and miss, with our expectations possibly set too high. But after our third ‘catamaran’ cruise around a harbour we’d had enough. Overall, loved it. For us, we will try expedition cruises next time to get closer to the action and are less reliant on larger ports, but a very solid high end product.

We have been on an 34 days cruise from Tokyo to Cairns. Overall great experience. Silver Nova is different from the 30 or so ships we have seen before. Everywhere o lot of space and light. No waiting in restaurants , no rush hours. Highlights were : Chefs table experience, SALT bar & restaurant, bridge club ant the excursions. CAYMUS special selection 240 USD. Lots of inclusions. Caviar available in room service without extra charge. Truly dedicated Staff, really everyone. During our cruise we have not been disappointed one single time . And when we felt that things are not going 100 % according to our desires , we just approached the closest manager and things were adjusted right on the spot. High class entertainment, lectures, cooking shows etc. Everything spotless clean . All public restrooms equipped with contact free sensors. Basic WiFi (included) very good - stable and fast. We will return to Silver Nova

It doesn't get better than this! It was just amazing. First and foremost: the crew was universally competent, friendly, very personable (always remembering your name), very genuine and just joyous. The entertainers were your standard cruise ship quality, with the notable exception of the singer in Silver Note --- she was exceptional. I would pay money to see her --- unreal good.(we ended up going there for a drink after dinner). The officers (Hotel manager and F&B manager) were everywhere --- they seemed to be ever present, always checking in and genuinely interested. The cruise director was upbeat and fun without being too much (as they often can be). The good vibe amongst the crew starts from the top!! The ship itself is spectacular - Amazing design and open spaces -- major kudos to the architects and builders. The asymmetric ship design is really clever and there are all kinds of nooks and crannies around the ship to hang out. All six of the elevators are glass with a view of the outside --- really cool. Gorgeous outdoor areas, lounges, lobbies and restaurants. Very modern, yet lush. Very grand, without being garish. The pool and jacuzzi were great. The gym was modern and functional, the steam room was good and the sauna had a clear wall and roof!! Overall, very generous spaces -- you never felt crowded and a joy to hang out anywhere on this ship. Overall, the food was great. 9/10. I would give the Silver Note and Le Dame as the standouts - 10/10, The Marquee was a 9.5/10. Kaiseiki was the disappointment. We never made it to SALT, but that's because several of our group are non Seafood people and we were in Alaska! The SALT cocktail bar became a favorite. The rooms were just perfect. Lots of space in the bathroom, closet and bedroom. Really clever and very functional design. They never felt cramped. The boutique was a little disappointing. The spa experience was not too good with an IT scheduling mix up between the website and the ship. Finally, the vibe of the cruise is REALLY good. Not too stuffy or pretentious, not too grubby with very kind and friendly smiling fellow passengers.
