Ship Reviews

This is a once in a lifetime experience. We had a water level room. Highly recommend as you are right on top of the water. Room was spacious, floor to ceiling windows, nice bedding. Room cleaned 3 times a day. Everything (meals, drinks, wine, excursions) is included except for cocktails and gratuities, cocktails which Carlos happily made if we wanted one. Gratuity is not included but the staff works so hard that you want to tip them well at the end because they 100% deserve it. Many are from the Amazon communities that live and work here. The enthusiastic naturalists made this trip amazing: George of the Jungle, Juan, Nassar, Billy - these are credentialed experts that can spot wildlife in a super human way. Meals: Amazing. I was at first concerned that every meal was a set menu, but relinquish the need for choice because the chef produced absolutely incredible, delicious, local, perfectly seasoned, fresh dishes at every turn. They even pack you a lunch for the airport drop-off. Practical info: You are met at the airport and it's a 2 hour drive to the Aria terminal, where they serve you snacks and refreshments prior to taking a skiff to the boat. Embarkation is a breeze. There's only a max of 32 guests. Lunch and dinner at set menus, breakfast is buffet plus made to order eggs. One area to suggest for improvement is snacks between lunch and dinner. I needed a tea time or something other than the luggage snacks I brought on board. Gym: Not really. There's a spin bike. Don't plan on getting exercise. Spa: Excellent massage but bring your air pods. The space is right next to a high traffic area and not sound proof. This crew does everything in their power to ensure you experience a trip of a lifetime. We saw: Sloths, caimans, monkeys (3 kinds), all the birds, pink dolphins, boa, tarantula, so many animals and insects, plants. It was an other-worldly experience.

We decided to take the pre-trip to Rio and Iguazu Fall along with the Amazon cruise and Machu Picchu and it was all just amazing. However, I was asked by my travel agent to pick my favorite part and it was clearly the Amazon cruise on the Aria. The cabins are comfortable and spacious with lovely window wall views. The crew members were funny and talented and kind and every request was met with an immediate and cheerful response. Every meal was meticulously prepared and delicious and so were the custom cocktails! The naturalists on board made the daily skiff excursions both educational and enjoyable and I have never had so much fun while learning so much! I think one of the most unique parts of this trip was being able to experience the beauty and vastness of the Amazon with almost nobody else around and I am not sure I have ever been anywhere else in the world where I could say that. In conclusion, we made reservations for this trip a year ahead of time and so we built up a lot of anticipation prior to leaving. However, this Uniworld experience exceeded all of our expectations and I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who prizes a great adventure!

We took the 7 night cruise (27 June to 4 July 2025). Overall an EXCEPTIONAL experience. The Aria Amazon, while among the oldest in Aqua's fleet, is well-maintained and an excellent 'base camp" for exploring the Amazon. The rooms are spacious, even for 3 guests (2 adults and a 13 year-old); well-appointed with very comfortable beds. The cuisine is amazing (chef Jose Luis and his team) - the best we have had on over 20 other cruises! The crew, all locals, are friendly and helpful. The guides, also locals, made each excursion a real pleasure - their stories about growing up and living in the Upper Amazon are fascinating and provided a unique context to the experiences. We saw all sorts of wildlife - boas, anacondas, sloths, many monkeys and too many species of birds to list here. We had an opportunity to fish for piranha and other fish; and also encountered local fishermen how showed us the Arapaima they had caught. We visited 3 different villages - with a chance to experience local life first hand; another enlightening experience. All in all, I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND AQUA EXPEDITIONS AND THE ARIA AMAZON as an outstanding way to experience the Peruvian Amazon.

It was the best Cruise that we have ever had. After we landed in Iquitos on November 15 and until departure from the Iquitos airport on November 22 we were surrounded by the friendliest and the most attentive service of the Aria amazing crew. We spent an unforgettable week sailing the Amazon river in 5 STAR accommodations. Our spacious room had a floor to ceiling window. Actually it was more like a glass wall. We took two to three excursions every day to see wildlife, visit Peruvian villages, meet people. We took the boat rides, fished piranha, and learned about honey production, forest and wildlife conservation, protection and restoration. We walked through the jungle and visited small villages. We met local people, honey bee keepers, tree climbers, shaman, craftsmen, fishermen and park rangers. The food on the ship is amazing. Service is above all praises. The crew is awesome. Nature is at its purest.

My cruise was a 4 day on the Aria on the Amazon set sail on 5/13/24. This is an eco-cruise, the ship held 29 passengers. Overall it was outstanding. The crew, the guides, cabins, food, everything was amazing. It was a trip of a lifetime to be so up close to the wild life. Every excursion departed from the boat into smaller boats which went up various tributaries. The cruise company handled everything from arrival at the airport to departure. Yes there will be rain, it is the rain forest, but we didn't miss out on anything. They had rain ponchos, boots for the jungle, bug repellant, it was amazing. The cabins were spacious, full big shower, well air conditioned, service was incredible. The rooms had floor to ceiling windows so even on the lazy days you could lay in bed and watch the river go by. The guides were incredible and very educational. You realize how small we are in the world and the importance of bio-diversity and the vital role this cruise company performs.

Enrichment

Peru & the Amazon Rainforest

This many-splendoured country delights everyone lucky enough to visit. It houses a gorgeous stretch of the Amazon Rainforest, including the birthplace of the Amazon River, as well as the majestic Machu Picchu. While here, make sure to explore Peru’s lively cities, from the colorful capital city of Lima, also known as the “City of Kings” and the unofficial gastronomical capital of South America, to Cusco, the heartland of the Inka Empire.

Nature
The Amazon Rainforest is a lush jungle environment that spans nine countries, but the most beautiful stretch of all is in Peru. This is thanks to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, a protected zone that has kept development and deforestation out of the Peruvian Amazon, leaving flourishing flora and fauna, as well as several Amazonian communities, intact. This area is also known as the “forest of mirrors” for the crystal-clear reflections of the trees and sky cast by its waters.

Wildlife
The Amazon is home to over 30% of all the known animal species in the world. With the floor-to-floor, wall-to-wall ceilings featured in every suite aboard the Aria Amazon, you’ll be able to spot rare Amazonian species right outside your window. Keep your eyes out for Amazonian manatees, three-toed sloths, capybara, pink river dolphins, scarlet macaw, and spider monkeys.

Cuisine
Peruvian gastronomy is respected across the world, with delicious dishes at both the authentic local level and in the world of fine dining. Fish, meats, legumes, corn, quinoa, and rice feature heavily in richly flavorful dishes, along with numerous exotic fruits that are difficult to find outside of the country. Our menus, crafted by Peru’s own celebrity chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, blend various regional cuisines, highlighting popular Peruvian dishes and drawing on ingredients and techniques from the Amazon.

Landmarks
Bucket-list sites are everywhere you look in Peru. Besides the Amazon Rainforest, the “lost city” of Machu Picchu is the biggest must-see destination, as well as the Sacred Valley of the Inkas. Our tours in Peru also pepper in some unique landmarks, ones that many tourists don’t think to visit, while those who do leave fond memories. In Lima, visit Casa Aliaga, one of the city’s oldest buildings and a home that has been passed down through 17 generations of the same family, for lunch with a member of the Aliaga family.
