AmaCello

Decorated in a palette of gold and orange that reflects Europe’s brilliant autumn foliage, AmaCello is a floating delight. The glorious Sun Deck offers a soothing whirlpool, giant chess set and recliners from which to drink up the extraordinary scenery. Inside, enticing aromas waft from the beautiful Main Restaurant and The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant, each previewing a masterfully plated dish created by an expert chef using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. And after just one bite, you’ll understand why AmaCello, like all our European ships, was inducted into the internationally renowned culinary society known as La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs! Keeping with the French theme, most staterooms feature a French balcony as well as amenities that include Entertainment-On-Demand, climate-controlled air conditioning and an in-room safe. A fitness room, sauna and massage room are also available for your enjoyment on board this incredible river ship.

Ship Reviews

I joined a group of friends on this river cruise, and was not sure I would like a river cruise. Much to my surprise, it was an amazing experience. The ship was beautiful, the crew members were so friendly and felt like family. The cruise manager Marcia went above and beyond to make sure our trip was one to be remembered. The captain was funny and personable and so appreciative of his crew's abilities. All of the land excursions' were well planned and executed. The food was excellent and I'm sure I gained a few pounds. The cabin was really nice and the beds were very comfortable. All in all, it was a great experience and I have already signed up for my next cruise. Oh one more thing, Our fitness trainer Stephan, was so helpful. We worked out with him daily in the morning, and when we were able, we did the walk on the upper deck with him. So nice to be able to work out while eating all of that delicious food.

Despite flooding in the region that caused us to board at the second scheduled stop, this was a wonderful experience. The crew went above and beyond to assure that the high water levels had a minimal effect on the tours and ports. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed cruising time on our balcony, seeing lots of birds and other wildlife. The meals were well-prepared with a nice variety of choices. And the wines were superb, especially the local red served at the Chef’s Table. We were fortunate that the tours included a special wine festival in the town of Volkach, which is only presented five times per year and only for Ama cruises. There was a town band, costumed dancers, bratwurst grilled by the butcher who made them and two local wines poured by the wine princesses. Big shout out to our cruise director, Jessi, who proudly wore her dirndl and got us all dancing. We also found out from fellow passengers from Italy, that Roll Out the Barrel is sung in almost every language! Can’t wait for our next Ama cruise.

We recently had a great cruise with AMA Waterways on the AMACerto for their Tulip Time cruise. This was our fourth river cruise and our second with AMA. They are a great company to cruise with, most things we would rate as excellent to exceptional. A few things certainly stood out, including their wonderful staff. They were always very professional, prompt and courteous, and would go out of their way to please you. We have to give shout outs to a few who were really exceptional in our eyes: Mihaela, our housekeeper kept our room very clean, neat, and tidy and was always very pleasant when we saw her. Nelly, a drink server, was always smiling and ready to get you whatever drink you wanted. She was quick and knowledgeable and liked to joke around with us. One of the waiters, Aditya, was very prompt and always smiling too, After the first couple of days we would try to get to the meals quickly to make sure we would be at one of the tables he served. We really enjoyed his fun attitude and service. Another highlight was the excursions – we found all the tour guides very good, in most cases they were exceptional: very knowledgeable and able to answer any of our questions. They made the excursions fun and the time went quickly, but we also learned a lot about the areas we were in. The food was another highlight, all meals were delicious with some of the lunches having a cultural appeal to the area we were travelling in that day. We had hoped that the beer on tap, would have changed depending on the area as well, even though we were in The Netherlands and Belgium the beer was the same for all the cruise and from Germany. We found the evening entertainment brought on board to be good, however we had hoped that it would have been based more on the culture of the area we were visiting. We felt we could find this type of entertainment back home. Our only disappointment really was the on board entertainer. He basically only played “canned music”, sometimes he would play along on the piano and sing as well. However most times he would put a playlist of canned music while he stood behind the bar. On the other AMA trip we had been on, the on board entertainer had played all the music on the piano and there was no canned music at all. In conclusion we had a great cruise and would definitely recommend AMAWaterways. We were so impressed that we have already booked another cruise with AMA for 2025.

Even if the weather was not ideal we had a blast. All the crew members were fantastic. The meals are just delicious and so well presented. Our cruise director, Betti, was amazing. During our cruise, one of the lock broke down and she was able to reorganized all the excursions on a very short notice, all this happening on a Saturday. High five to Betti. All the waiting staff in the restaurant or the bar were friendly and attentives. I particulary enjoy the "Sip and Sail" cocktail time, with a different drink on every night. There are multiple excursions to choose from at all the port of calls. The staterooms are very well appointed and very clean. There is a lot of storage, wardrobe space and hangers. It was my very first cruise and certainly not my last one. We are already planning our next cruise with AmaWaterways. Just can't wait to sail again.

Our first river cruise, recommended to us by friends who went with us on the AMA Certo. Just fabulous - ship and crew, hospitality crew, cruise manager and tour host - everything flowed smoothly throughout the week and the cruise experience itself was fantastic. The food was 5 star quality as was the service; the happy hours were happy and encouraged us to meet new people; the stateroom (ours was the lowest price, bottom of the boat with only portholes) was very comfortable and fit our needs exactly; and, the shore excursions were really enlightening and fun with local guides who were professional yet provided local flavor to their presentations. All in all, a really fabulous time. AMA will definitely be in our future travel plans! Realizing that I am a few words shy of the minimum, I will mention names of people who made the trip so great: Carolyn Durup of Town & Country Travel and our travel agent and host; Vanessa the Cruise Manager; Abigail, our Wine Steward; and Sali, our server.
