Our original intent was to see the Normandie Beaches and MT Saint Michel, but we decided to roll it all into one with a river cruise from Paris and the add on post extension. We are glad we did. To see Paris correctly, one would need a week, but we still got to see the major sights and the Eiffel Tower lit up at night. The cruise also took us to incredible sights of castles, chateaus, gardens, and towns dating back hundreds if not thousands of years. Service was great and the food was never substandard. We made new friends and the Captain, Jerome, besides being a great navigator, entertained us with a song. The post extension took us to St. Malo, a walled city where corsairs once plundered ships from enemy countries. The hotel was great and the restaurants on St. Malo also left lasting memories...and inches on our waists. The day usually began with breakfast at 7AM and excursions began about 8-9 AM depending on the site. The ship has a wellness program and bikes are available for sightseeing if you wish. The guides were excellent in their knowledge and service.
This was our first time on AMA and we were very impressed. The service was amazing, the Captain was a lot of fun (especially when he sang for the guests) and all of his crew were very attentive and very friendly. The boat was clean and nicely appointed. The cabin was comfortable with a nice French balcony to open and sit by as you cruise down the Seine. I only wish we had a small fridge in the cabin too. Bottled water was replenished daily in the room, and we were provided with water before every excursion. The food on the boat was good. My wife has some dietary restrictions and the maitre d’ and chef were very accommodating and she was pleasantly surprised. The excursions were well organized and provided us with great experiences. Overall the cruise, the boat, the crew, and the excursions were all amazing and we would love to sail on AMA again.
