We just finished a 14 day Atlantic Crossing from Fort Lauderdale to Rotterdam with one stop in Bermuda, two stops in England and one in Belgium. I can’t say enough good things about the staff who are passionate and hard-working and seem to really enjoy their jobs. This is our first time on Holland America, and we would say that it’s pretty much even with both celebrity and princess which we have been on before. The food was excellent in the dining room as well as the buffet, we had two meals at the specialty restaurant one at pinnacle and one at Tamarind, both were OK but nothing to write home about. A couple weird things were that the fruit quality wasn’t very good with the exception of the honeydew.. Even later in the cruise, the cantaloupe still wasn’t ripe and you could not get “just pineapple” or “just watermelon”; it was fruit salad or honeydew.. another odd thing is there was a wide variety of cheeses, but it was almost impossible to find crackers? The entertainment was very lame and certainly not in the category of something you would find on princess or celebrity. For example, the magician had a audience of probably 800 people and he’s doing card tricks? Cmon! Very weird selection of movies, twice they had children’s movies which of course makes no sense because most of the grandkids of the guests are probably in their 20s and there were hardly any children on board in the first place The Pickleball scene is quite active and this ship had 2 courts, and believe it or not it’s not as bad as you think when you’re playing on board, but yes, it’s quite windy. So overall, we would definitely go on HAL again
HAL is a wonderful cruise line and Rotterdam is a great ship. This was a nine day ABC island plus Half-Moon Cay cruise. HAL excels in all aspects of cruising, food, bars, nightclub entertainment, the have it all package and cabins are all better than Carnival and RCL and are on par with Disney. The only place that HAL is lacking is the main stage entertainment where Carnival and RCL are slightly better and Disney is amazing. The comedians were good on this trip and the Island Magic Steel Band was awesome but the standard entertainment on the big stage was not as good as the other lines. The food was amazing and the HAL Lido buffet is exceptional, so much that we skipped the MDR all nights but one with two nights in amazing speciality restaurants and the other six nights at the Lido buffet. HAL is more of a laid back vibe and takes dressy nights seriously staying dressed the whole night. This was an exceptional cruise second only to our HAL Alaska cruise tour last year.
Beautiful ship, phenomenal food and service at Club Orange and friendly accommodating staff. The seafood dishes were Amazing. The entertainment on board lacked pizazz and was not handicapped accessible for motorized scooters. One show was a reggae foursome that played nice music but belonged at the gangway and NOT in the Main showroom. Also, one of the comedians didn’t make me laugh ( just being honest). I really enjoyed the lounge shows BB King / Rock n Roll . Our room steward was phenomenal but the bed was really high but difficult for me to get on it. While I’m not a big buffet kind of person, there were many really nice options and desserts. They even had white albacore tuna on cheese croissants ( I’m a tuna snob ). Overall, this was a great cruise but I’m liking Celebrity a bit more . Their entertainment and daily activities far exceeds Holland America.

Holland America Line's youth activities program, Kids Club, offers an array of entertaining events for kids and teens ages 3-17, supervised by a full-time, professionally trained staff. They'll have an opportunity to join other kids their age for arts and crafts, sports, video game competitions, scavenger hunts, challenging team games and themed parties.
Note: Kids Club is not offered on cruises of 25-days or longer, including all Legendary and Grand Voyages. We will offer a selection of children’s activities throughout these longer voyages for any children who may be onboard.
Safety Comes First
Safety is our primary concern and strict policies are in place for effective supervision. Adult guests are not permitted to remain in Kids Club unless attending to a special-needs child.
Please note: During voyages with a high number of families onboard, we will make all efforts to accommodate interested parties. However, participation in our program cannot be guaranteed. Hours of operation may change to better serve our guests.
