Ship Reviews

The service was great, too many people. Special mention to Alejandro, Jun Jun, Elizabeth and Mariano, they all went out of their way to give us a great experience. The food was good. The elevators are a nightmare sometimes we have to wait 10 minutes for one to show up (and usually full). The room cleaning service was really nice. The entertainment for the children was very good, they have the best time. At the bar the bartender was helpful and polite. We were late for our reservation at the 5TH Avenue restaurant and the manager was really helpful in getting us another reservation at another restaurant later that same night. The distribution of the rooms can be confusing. The disembarkation process was easy and quick. Also, Oscar in the front desk was very professional and helpful. Overall, a very nice experience and I will definitely sail with them again.

As background, we have sailed around two dozen times on various cruise ships. We have Platinum status on NCL and Diamond status on MSC which are our most frequent cruise partners. Our last cruise on MSC was not good. Food was poor, the ship was crowded, and shows were average at best. When I saw this cruise at a reasonable price for the Aurea experience, we decided to give MSC one more chance. We are glad we did. Like most MSC ships, the Seashore is a beautiful ship. Unlike other MSC ships on which we have sailed, the Seashore, although a large ship, never felt crowded. The design of the ship spreads such things as sundecks throughout the ship. As we had the Aurea experience, we were able to use deck 19 which was reserved for Aurea guests. However, we used the Jungle room on cooler days, and when strolling the ship, I noticed that most sundecks had space even during peak times. Dining was a highlight of this cruise. We had My Choice Dining and we dined 6 of 7 nights at the 5th Avenue restaurant. Food was excellent and service was excellent. We had the same table every night and we never waited more than five minutes to be seated. This was the main reason we selected the Aurea experience. Between My Choice Dining and the exclusive sundeck this choice was worth the extra cost. As an aside, we sailed in the Yacht Club on three other MSC ships, and there was very little difference between that experience and the Aurea experience. We never used the butler or concierge in the Yacht Club and our room was fairly comparable in size to a standard Yacht Club room. Shows were average but plentiful. Some lines now repeat the same shows throughout the cruise. We had seven different shows during our cruise. Mostly song and dance shows with one comedian, one magician show and one variety show. The cast certainly tried to entertain, but the song and dance shows get a tad repetitive after the third or fourth night. Our favorite shore excursion was Ocean Caye. MSC has done a remarkable job with this island. The decision to keep the island as a preserve and not turn it into an amusement park was an excellent idea. We found lounge chairs under one of the many palm trees and enjoyed the day near the man-made lagoon. The best ship owned island we have ever visited. The ship docks right at the entrance so no tendering required which is another plus. The only area in which MSC faltered was embarkation and disembarkation. Embarkation was very disorganized. Only one gentleman directing a line that was approximately a half mile long. No updates, no line organization and no explanation for why the line was so long. On disembarkation our luggage was misplaced. I understand that this happens with 5,000+ passengers. However, MSC representatives were not at all helpful in locating the luggage. My luggage tag 2 was #11. We searched that area to no avail. Asked two representatives for assistance. I was told to go search 1-10. Nothing in 1-10. Asked a representative for assistance. I was told it was not his problem; it was a baggage problem. Told to go back and search the area I just searched and continue to search until I found it. No offer of assistance of any sort. Finally, after much searching, we located the luggage in the wrong area. At some point, one of your representatives should have directly intervened to help us find our luggage which your staff misplaced. These are areas of improvement, but we did not dwell on these items to taint an otherwise outstanding cruise. We will cruise MSC again. We will cruise choose the Aurea package for all our cruises on MSC.
