This was my 3rd time sailing with Norwegian. I chose NCL over MSC because I heard MSC was more stingy about things, and I’m familiar with NCL ships. The cost cutting is showing. My cabin steward was visible and friendly. But no turn down service, which was always a nice touch. The entertainment was terrible compared to before covid. People were walking out mid-way through some of the shows. Elements was great, and the aerial duo was amazing. The most disappointing was the food. The buffet was very basic options, and desserts were terrible. Although I did find the Aqua dining room to be decent, just not excellent. Also there was not a late night easy pick up snack place. You had to go sit at OSheehans in your joggers and order at a table. Not good! In Livorno, the port is not walkable, and we were forced to pay 7 euro for a bus to the city bus terminal. They had one bus at first for 200 people, having to buy tickets. We were all standing in a huge queue for 45 minutes before boarding the bus. Should have provided the bus free, or at least sold tickets night before for those going out on their own. It was an unnecessarily unorganized experience. I got a massage at the spa the first day, and then they called me in my room mid cruise trying to upsell me aggressively. Did not like that at all! And therapist was upselling me during the massage as well. I got flyers daily upselling me on cruise next vouchers. And the WiFi is a total rip off. Everyone needs WiFi as essential nowadays. They need to provide it at more minutes or for much less or for free. Oh, and had to wait 3 hours to get in our rooms after embarkation. I was laying on a bench exhausted until they let us in. So not a good way to start your experience! I have always enjoyed NCL , but I will likely try Princess or Celebrity going forward. They are cutting into the marrow, and it’s hurting their image and brand. Lots of loyal NCL cruisers are mad, and going elsewhere. I’m not mad, the ports were awesome, but I’ll go elsewhere for better food, and entertainment next time.
This NCL cruise was great. NCL excursions reasonable and alot of choices at each port. Food was excellent, drink package perfect choice. Wifi not so good..spotty at times but you are on a ship. Stateroom was a club balcony had lots of room and came with robes and treats during the cruise plus a bottle of champagne. Definately treat yourself to a suite. No port problems, one tender but they ran that op smooth!. 5 days in Spain, 1 day Gibralter, 2 days Italy 2 days France. Wish it was evenly divided by counties but all countries are beautiful and full of history you will enjoy! If you are looking for a smaller ship, great staff, not so crowded (only 2290 guests with 1300 staff) then this is the ship for you. Easy to navigate and the in ship entertainment was good. Casino was full every night and fun was had by all!!
