Honestly, we had seen bad comments before leaving, and it had scared us and put us in doubt....,... But it was a big SURPRISE, it was a magnificent 10-day cruise. . We loved it. The ship was renovated in 2024. Boarding at the port of Tampa was quick, we were lucky, everything took 25 minutes and we were on board. No waiting. Warm welcome. Our balcony cabin on deck 9 was renovated, beautiful storage space, large bathroom. The food at the buffet has always been VERY varied for breakfast and lunch. Very good and never had a shortage of food. All specialty restaurants are excellent, very good quality of food. We liked the French Restaurant, the Bistro, the Asian Bamboo, the Grill&Steak House, and the Italian Cucina. Smiling staff in the 2 large dining rooms and very good service. We are very satisfied with our 10-day cruise and we plan to do another 10-day cruise with Ncl
Specialty restaurants ( Moderno, La Cucina) were very noisy. La Cucina had a band about one hundred feet from our table. Moderno sat us behind patrons at the bar( five feet), and also had an aisle next to our table. Seems ambiance was given second place over more tables. I don't recommend these restaurants to anyone. Food was great (5). ambiance because of noise and seat location (1). Debarkation was busy as always in Tampa . Cagneys staek house was worth the money. Rooms near the center of the ship were very noisy in the evenings. Try to avoid midship if you want a quiet early night. All the service people on the ship were great. We've cruied on Norwegion before and every thing was great. But because of the two noisey specialty (again- Moderna and La Cucina) eateries. We have second thoughs about another one. To us ambiance was lost somewhere compared with previous sailings.
I have cruised on Norwegian over one dozen times. The food is usually good and the shows are always excellent. This time, however, on NCL Dawn, I noticed that multiple toilet seats were worn out, the staff were not as happy/friendly as usual, their app is too limited, and the schedule for the buffet was more limited. With this said, Norwegian is still a good and reasonably-priced cruise line to travel on. I will cruise on NCL again, however they need to bring the line up to its old standard of quality. This ship has been recently updated so the carpets are in great shape, most interior areas are fine and the pool area and furniture all look good. They still need to paint several interior and exterior rusty areas and train their staff better. This is not to the usual Norwegian standard that I have experienced in the past.
