Ship Reviews

This was a great cruise with an awesome Itinerary. All of the stops were beautiful no repeats and no Princess Cays which was the main reason I picked it. Trinadad However remained a port of call even though the Canadian gov't gave an advisory not to visit this port. British people whom we met on this ship also had an advisory from their govt., due to violence etc. This gave me pause about Princess and why they would not change this port. I really want the cruise line I choose to consider our safety. Embarkation and Disembarkation was the fasted I have experienced. It seems each year they are getting better at this. The main dining Concerto where we ate most nights was a mixed bag. Some nights the food was delicious and others it was very bad. It was probably the worst prime rib and lobster I have ever had. This also goes for the service. Twice at dinner I ordered a diet Coke, the first night it came while eating dessert and the second night it never arrived at all. Anyway, in the big scheme of things this is small stuff. I didn't go hungry. The entertainment on this ship was very good. The ship was kept very clean. Our Balcony cabin was well serviced. I have to give a shout out to Alfredo's Pizza. ...It was the best Pizza I have ever had and was worth of a second visit.

It's been 3 years since our last cruise. We booked this a year in advance, as we really wanted to do the 14 day circle caribbean itinerary. We booked an inside cabin with plus, as we didnt have the budget for a balcony this trip. However the Princess upgrade program came through for us and we ended up in a obstructed view balcony for a very small additional charge. embarking was smooth as silk, half an hour after arriving at port we were on deck having a bevvy. Our room: great, clean, lots of space for our stuff. the balcony is minimally obstructed and didnt affect our enjoyment. The balcony is tiny ( we've had a deluxe balcony before) but for the little bit we paid, a massive upgrade over an inside cabin. Public areas: Well maintained, well organized. Although our cruise was very full it didnt feel that way. Never had to line up or wait on crowds of people. Pools: I like the main outdoor pool, but prefer designs with 2 outdoor pools so we can hang out at the quiet one away from the jumbotron. not a huge fan of indoor pools as the whole area smells of chlorine. Food: we did standard late seating. diningroom was half empty. waiters were great, very attentive. Food was improved over previous cruises. Meats properly cooked. Everything seasoned well. We also went to the winemakers dinner, the tuscan lunch and the catch by Rudi. Those were top tier. perfectly cooked lamb chops, and sea bass at rudi's was possibly the best fish I've ever eaten. Entertainment: The usual mix of comediens, magicians and vocalists But the production shows were way better then any previous cruise we've done. Drones, lighted costumes, live streaming. cool modern stuff you see on tv, but ln person. the entertainment cast was strong, both singing and dancing. A real surprise highlight of our cruise. Itinerary: circle caribbean lived up to its billing - 3 stops we'd never seen before (Aruba, Curacao, Trinidad), and some of our previous favorites. 8 ports in, all winners. Bottom line: best cruise ever!

Trip Summary Travel/Cruise 54 days – December 2024 South America, a great adventure Before the cruise Plane from Montreal to Los Angeles, with a stopover in Toronto by Air Canada. Everything went smoothly, no delays and no lost luggage! Hotel for 2 nights: Los Angeles Airport Marriott Nice hotel, well located in relation to the airport. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. Shuttle available free of charge from the airport to the hotel, vice versa. The food at the Hangar 18 restaurant located in the hotel lobby is good. Happy food! Embarkation Port of Los Angeles to San Pedro A 3 hour wait to be on the boat, never seen that! And we never had any explanations from the staff on board. The Boat/Cabin Majestic Princess, inaugurated in 2017 for a capacity of 3,560 passengers + staff. Deluxe balcony cabin on deck 14. Nice cabin, good location. Everywhere on the boat you can see signs of wear and tear on the carpets, armchairs, etc... The pool for adults is on deck 17 at the front is indoor, a plus for me! The conservatory close by is nice and brings relaxation, really much appreciated! Very nice view too. Food and restaurants Unfortunately, since the pandemic, Princess has cut back on food. At the buffet, for lunch, we offer a hamburger/hot dog station. Don't understand the reason for offering this because very close to the pool, on the same deck as the buffet is a burger/hot dog bar. In addition, there is now a children's station, where fast food (fries, chicken nuggets, pasta, etc.) is offered. There are no longer good starters and good choices on the menus of the main restaurants. Everything is offered at the drop. Of course, what is offered is good, but when you have known better, it is disappointing! The service Always good! I love Princess Cruises for so many things and service is one of them. I really appreciate the service which is excellent from all the staff. Sometimes it's a bit slow, but when you know the reason (lack of staff) you complain less. We are, after all, on vacation! Activities on board In general, it's good. However, I am not the right person to judge because it is rare that I participate in activities. Other Buy your excursions with Princess before the cruise as the cost is lower than on the boat. Disembarkation It went very badly! I took a transfer with Princess. There was a lack of buses, people were, like me, desperate and unsure if they would be in time to fly. Lesson to be learned from this: Never again transfer with Princess unless you fly the next day! Return home Everything went well. 51-day cruise (South America, great adventure) done in December/January 2024-2025 Stopovers Los Angeles, Californie USA Port of embarkation/disembarkation located in San Pedro. The town is quite close to the port. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Port being quite far from the city. A golf coach can take us to the exit of the port. From there it's a taxi or bus, or an excursion. We took the Beach Getaway excursion with Princess Cruises. Departure from the port by bus to Sabal Playa for 4 hours to enjoy the beach/sea and swimming pool with sun lounger and umbrella included. Food and beverages are offered at our expense. Fuerte Amador, Panama pour Panama City From the port it is possible to take an excursion with the locals and/or take a taxi to Panama City. We opted for an excursion with Princess Cruises. We went to see the Panama Canal at the Mirafloras lock, followed by an Imax film showing the construction of the canal and to finish a guided tour of Panama City. Lima (Callao), Pérou Cargo port located in Callao, 20 km from Lima. Lima Highlights Excursion. By bus, we go to the main square in the heart of the city of Lima for a guided tour of the monuments. Then we go to the modern neighborhood to see the park overlooking the sea. Pisco (General San Martin), Peru This cargo port is in the desert, nothing around! A free shuttle bus is offered to get to Pisco, a poor village. Went to visit Tambo Colorado. La Serena (Coquimbo), Chili Cargo port located in Coquimbo. A free shuttle is offered from the dock to the exit of the port. From here you can walk along the beach with souvenir kiosks and food. San Antonio (Santiago), Chili Cargo port, shuttle from port to terminal. To the left of the terminal there is a pedestrian walkway along the sea with souvenir kiosks, fish merchants and restaurants. Across the street there is a shopping mall. Puerto Montt, Chili The boat remains at sea, we go to land by tender. At the exit of the port, on the left, are the fish merchants and on the right, a 20-30 minute walk to the city center. We took the Best of Puerto Montt excursion. This tour includes 4 stops. Fruitillar : Small town with a German museum and views of the large Lianquihue lake and in the distance the snow-capped volcanoes including Osorno. Puerto Varas, City of Roses: View of the lake and volcanoes and kiosks of handicrafts. Yankee Way, restaurant: On the menu pumpkin soup, salmon plate and dessert with unlimited pisco and wine. By national: Petrohue falls. Amalia Glacier, Chili (scenic cruising) Beautiful view, but that day the clouds were low. Punta Arenas, Chili Port where one goes to land by tender. Punta Arenas is located in the Strait of Magellan, a maritime passage located south of Chile in Patagonia. At the terminal there are a few kiosks selling handicrafts. About a 20-minute walk to get to the central square of the city. Ushuaia (Tierra Del Fuego), Argentina The town is located near the port and can be easily visited on foot. We took a tour that goes to the last stop of National Highway #3, crossing 2 continents starting in Alaska and ending in Ushuaia. Cap Horn (scenic cruising) It was difficult to appreciate the view because that day it was cloudy with light rain! Falkland Islands (Stanley) The stopover was cancelled because it was too windy to take out the tenders. Puerto Madryn, Argentina Port located very close to the city with direct access to the beach. We took a tour to see Magellanic penguins followed by a BBQ meal of mutton cooked over a wood fire at El Pedral Ranch. Montevideo, Uruguay This country is the 2nd smallest country in South America between Brazil and Argentina. The port is located at the entrance to the city. Pedestrian streets with shops, restaurants, parks and monuments where you can see the sea on either side. Bunos Aires, Argentina Goods port, shuttle to get to the terminal. From there you can opt for excursions, Hop-on, Hop-off bus or a taxi, about 10.$ USD, to go to the Plaza de Mayo to see the monuments... Rio de Janeiro, Brésil The port is located about a 20-30 minute walk from the city center. However, at the terminal we are told that downtown is dangerous for tourists! Possibility to walk a little outside, near the terminal. We took an excursion to see Christ the Redeemer, past the beautiful beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana and to take the cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. Fortaleza, Brésil Commercial port with shuttle to get to the terminal where there are a few souvenir kiosks. From there excursions with Princess Cruises or taxi to get to the city or the beach. Roseau, Dominique cancelled and replaced by Fort de France in Martinique Port directly to the town where there are a few souvenir and food kiosks on the pedestrian promenade along the sea. At the end of the promenade there is a small public beach, La Française, it is clean, quiet and the sea is calm. Water taxis are available to get to other beaches in the area. Basseterre, St-Kitts The port is close to several shops and restaurants. Possibility to take excursions with the people from there. Fort Lauderdale, Floride USA Port of embarkation/disembarkation of cruise ships.
