Ship Reviews

Yes, the ship is in need of an overhaul, however, our group (10 of us), felt it was like an elegant Grand Damn. The service was top notch, the Grand Princess theater provided some of the best all around entertainment we have experienced in our cruising history. Our favorite was Lou Garraza! What a vocalist. We did all go to the Crown Grille, one night, the meals were enjoyed by all, along with our very special service, from the maître d A few of us enjoyed the Crab Bake, including, giant shrimp, mussels, clams and corn on the cob. The main dining room's menu changed every night. The food was delicious, served hot and with a smile from Clint and our beverage attendant. Before our 5:00 dinner reservation, we met for a before dinner beverage at the Wheelhouse bar. There was always entertainment in the Wheelhouse and excellent service and delicious cocktails. Everyone of the servers went out of their way to provide good service. Our cabin was small, but, plenty of hanging space for our clothes. All of the cabin stewards work so very hard. Julie was not an exception!! We had coffee delivered every morning and it was always on time, delivered by a young man with a beautiful good morning smile. Our balcony needed attention. The metal frame for the sliding door is corroded and is so very difficult to open and close. We had plenty of connections for our phones, watches and Kindles. (actually more than we have ever had!)

I recently went on a cruise to Japan, and it was a wonderful experience overall. The ship was comfortable, with plenty of amenities like a spa, fitness center, and several dining options. The crew was friendly and attentive, making the trip feel relaxing from start to finish. The excursions were a highlight for me. Visiting cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka gave me a chance to experience both the modern and traditional sides of Japan. I loved the mix of vibrant city streets and peaceful temples. The guided tours were informative, and I appreciated the chance to try authentic Japanese food, especially the sushi and ramen. While the ship didn’t offer a lot of entertainment options, the ports and excursions made up for it. Overall, it was a great way to see Japan without the hassle of planning everything myself. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a stress-free adventure! We basically loved it. Some of the entertainment was not to our taste but others felt differently. I think we paid a fair price for what we got. Frustrating when we didn't have wifi as we had a family situation at home.

It was a good cruise with minimal issues. We arrived at port early because of our flight. Waited for about an hour, while people were getting off the ship. Once inside the embarkation was super fast. We were on the ship in 20 minutes. The rooms were not ready, but we still dropped off our carry bags. The Grand is an older smaller ship, but very nice. There is lots to do while waiting for departure. I remembered to bring my swim suit in my carry bag and had the pool and hot tub to myself. For some reason this cruise had a very large older audience. I would estimate 75 - 80 + years. And almost all from Southern California. The ship stopped in Cabo for 2 days. Not the best port to visit Mexico. Cabo is more like Southern California. Condo's, time shares, gaudy restaurants. Princess should make Cabo one day and include Mazatlan. La Paz and Loreto were nice stops. With lots of local things to do. Church's museums, Malicon boardwalk. The sea days were O.K. but could have included a bit more activities. Paper airplane, egg drop, more dancing lessons. The Cruise Director lacked enthusiasm and spontaneity. She was actually kind of boring. Her Wake Show being the worst. She ready the daily program. Never side kicked her assistant Cruise Directors. Who for the most part were fun to be around. We dined in the Buffet for breakfast and lunch. Although we did eat sit down lunch one day and it was the so slow and tiring, we left and went upstairs. A bad experience. Dinner was also slow, Princess needs to improve it's meal delivery to the wait staff. The entertainment was very good. The production shows done well, great singers and dancers. Good comedian. There was a separate comedian show that was super funny. Over all it was a good cruise, would be better with a more engaging Cruise Director. And a bit warmer. The week we went Mexico was having a slightly cool temperature.
