LoginIntroducing a new Oasis Class ship that’s bold beyond imagination.
Utopia of the Seas℠ arrives July 2024. Details to come as visions become reality.
My wife and I booked this cruise only to check out the Utopia. I’m not one for large ships, but since it was a 4-day I was onboard (hahaha). My wife’s brother, Tony, and friend, Lynnette, joined us. It’s always better to have people; it’s more fun. Very impressed with the ship. Plenty of glitz and amenities, but not too much to reduce public space. Loved Central Park. Plenty of nooks and crannies to sit and relax and people-watch. The Royal Promenade was nice. Good balance of shops, eateries and bars. I thought the Boardwalk to be kind of an after thought by the designers. “We have this space remaining, so let’s put something here”. It wasn’t very long like the Promenade and Central Park, and mainly geared toward kids. The hot dog place was awesome. I love a good hotdog or brat. The adult comedy show was disappointing. Neither comedian was funny to us. Tony and Lynnette laughed the entire time. Ten+ drinks will do that to a person! The water show was great! Great choreography and acrobatics. I was curious to taste the food in the main dining room to see how the quality was. Big disappointment. There’s no doubt the cruise lines want passengers to shell out one hundred dollars and more to eat in the specialty restaurants. In the main dining room the first night I ordered a prime rib and my wife got a sirloin I believe. Her sirloin was practically paper thin and my prime rib was barely over a quarter inch thick. Really though? Absolutely terrible. This was the general theme for the main dining room the rest of the cruise. On the last night we opted to eat in 150 Central Park. I highly recommend this dining venue. I can’t say enough about our waiter as far as service and personality goes. Definitely 5-star! The Lobster Thermidor was excellent as were the steak medallions. Appetizers and deserts did not disappoint either. At seventy dollars a person I would expect no less. If you are planning to eat at a specialty restaurant, I would say do it on the last night of the cruise. I couldn’t imaging going from that back to the main dining room!! The solarium pool area was perfect. A little crowded, but manageable. Gotta try the negative edge Jacuzzi! as far as staterooms go, we booked a virtual balcony, which has a large flatscreen TV the size of a balcony door that shows real time. What’s outside your room! It’s worth the little extra money they charge because it does make the room look bigger, even though these inside state rooms are larger than the older ships. I recommend going on YouTube and doing a video tour of the Utopia to see more. overall, I was impressed with the ship, even though I’m not a big ship person. we probably won’t be sailing on the utopia again only because of the four day itinerary my wife and I prefer seven day and longer cruises. We’re satisfied we got to check it out and we’ll take away lots of new memories from that trip.
We totally enjoyed this ship. Embarkation was flawless at Port Canaveral and we were eating lunch within 15 minutes of boarding. We had lunch at the Solarium after trying to go to Windjammer. Solarium was so much quieter and a much better place to be on this first day. We had an Ocean view veranda and loved it. The bathroom was more than big enough with great water pressure in space capsule like shower. The TV was mounted on the wall at the foot of the bed. We exchanged our pillows for feather ones because the others were just too hard. The bed was very comfortable. We never heard a sound for the entire four days. Nassau was a good stop and was very safe. This port has been extensively remodeled. Coco Cay was the second stop. There is no need to pay extra to sit on a beach here. There were plenty of chairs and the lunch was excellent on South Beach. They run trams through out the island unless you would like to walk The main stage show was excellent on the first night. We ate at 150 Central which we highly recommend. We also ate at Chops Grille, it was okay but would not eat there again. The main dining room food was fine and we do not see the need to spend the extra money in the specialty restaurants. We ate breakfast each day in the Solarium. The food was hot and well prepared. There is inside and outside seating. We walked off for debarkation and this is definitely the way to go. There were no lines and no waiting. This was an excellent four day cruise and we highly recommend it.
Hello Cruisers! If you are a 1st timer or seasoned vet on the high seas, then please read this review! Many on this forum like myself are looking for the is it worth type of reviews, good or bad --- well, the Utopia of the Seas is definitely a cruise for everyone! As a seasoned vet of many cruises, the only thing that I have grumblings with is that they do NOT provide the daily ship activities papers under your door or after they clean the room!!! I'm on a cruise to get away from the electronics! Nowadays, you must watch TV for the daily planner - it's a minor gripe, but I still kept my phone OFF after we boarded the ship! Let's start with why we cruised, R & R!!! If you found yourself unable to rest and relax, well that's because there is sooooo much to see! We knew we needed to book our specialty dining reservations when we first boarded. When you enter the ship, you are on the correct deck - deck 5. We proceeded directly to the station for getting those reservations, took a total of 3 minutes! 4 reservations made at the times we desired. The station was also located in the main dining, which was also our safety muster station - so we saw the F1 sign and the folks scanned our boarding passes. Another 90 seconds and we were done with everything! Our scheduled boarding time was 11:30am, we were parked on the pier at 11:15am and walked to the terminal - security was simple, show passports and they pointed to the gangway and off we went! UNREAL how simple it is!!!! So it's now 11:45am, and our first dining reservation was at 12:30 (Chops)! Let's see how do we spend 45 minutes? Easy question! First bar was on the way to Chops! Pesky Parrot! Our first beverage was the Peanut Butter Pina! It's a pre-mix in a machine that pours frozen drinks - saw on a review that it was awesome - the review was RIGHT! We did visit the Pesky Parrot a few times for that drink! Yes, we bought the drink package early on when we booked, BOGO - no tips needed for any cocktail - just order and go! The size of the ship will make anyone say WOW! We strolled through the walkways sipping our drinks until lunch - made it just in time as there is so much to look at! I had Filet Mignon (4 times on the 3 day sailing) - We didn't want anything else. One night we booked the italian restaurant - we both ordered chicken parm and I got a side of filet! BOOM! The tiramasu was a bit soggy - hard to keep the lady fingers dry on the pre-made deserts, but it had tons of flavor! One thing to mention for Port Canaveral, check the launch schedule! YES! At 2:10pm on Friday we saw the launch - that was an added bonus highlight! Now for the weekend activities: We didn't get off in Nassau, morning was spent in the solarium - it's very cozy - hottubs were open early, there isn't a pool in the solarium - just wading pools. As a note, there are booze stations along with the bar in the solarium - so no waiting in line for a beverage! The activities during the day were mostly trivia type - small crowds played. We decided to eat pizza for lunch - for those that are curious, YES - it's great too! Get as much as you want - included !!!! Next topic: Aqua Too --- all I can say is WOW! Best show I've ever seen on 25+ cruises - we saw it Friday night and snuck back up on Saturday night after the production show! The All in One production show has good performers, the show lacked a story line, but the songs were known and performed well. I'd call it average after seeing Aqua Too!!!! Perfect Day at Coco Cay - it's a massive place - expect to do some walking if you want to find the right location to lounge in the sun near the water. We went to the bar to order our own beverages as there wasn't a lot of wait staff - there were 2 ships docked so it was rather busy! Lunch buffet has a great variety for meat eaters - tacos, cheesesteaks, burgers, dogs, chicken ... I didn't look for vegan or other stuff cuz I ain't eatin that --- so it was top notch in my book!!!!! The island didn't have Stella, okay I ordered another fruity captain ... brilliant mix, fruit punch and a couple captain shots mixed in a blender! Final night was back at Chops - another perfect temperature Filet! I was able to secure a 2nd Filet - she ordered the larger one as well for leftovers (*NOTE: cruise ships do NOT have takeout bags*) - bring a cheap container if you want to take food home. I know it's not allowed, but I haven't had my carry off bag looked at ever. Use the bag service the night before, the ship is huge and a lot of people leaving at one time. We walked off at 7:30 when they said our luggage would be ready - took all of 3 minutes to get our bag - scan our faces for facial recognition and we were out in the parking lot. Eat, drink, laugh - soak it all in! We will book the Utopia again
